Mental Health Counselor
I am a Mental Health Counselor in New York City working with adults, children, and couples. I utilize an eclectic blend of Feminist, Multicultural, Existential, Rogerian, Psychodynamic, and CBT therapy. My prior internship, education, and research experiences have encouraged my passion for incorporating social justice and the arts in my therapy work. I have a passion for working with clients who may be dealing with health and identity issues, whether it be race/ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, culture, and/or immigration status. I am familiar with Hindi and Spanish and received my Ed.M. in Mental Health Counseling and M.A. in Psychological Counseling from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. I believe the therapeutic process is a unique, powerful, active, collaborative, and professional relationship that has the potential for individuals to feel a sense of safety, non judgment, validation, empowerment, self-awareness, authenticity, and self-acceptance. I try my best to create a therapeutic space that is safe, sex-positive, inclusive, and affirming to people of all ages, abilities, races/ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. I have previous work experience providing individual and group therapy for cancer patients and caregivers along with working with elderly adults with chronic pain and illness. I work with clients to empower them in their relationships and help them better manage and explore their identities, culture, life transitions, depression, anxiety, and grief.
