Mariel Buque, M.A.
Mariel is an Afro-Latina (Dominican) and a Ph.D. Candidate in Counseling Psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her work focuses on the advancement of culturally affirming mental health services and on increasing access to therapy for People of Color. She is the writer of the Psychology Today blog called Unpacking Race, which focuses on improving access to care and racial health disparities. She also trains therapists, educators, and companies in the areas of cultural competency, implicit bias, and microaggressions.
