I am Natalie Yvette Gutierrez, a Puerto Rican Latinx who is also a proud native New Yorker. I spend the bulk of my work and time dedicated to providing trauma-informed psychotherapy to clients of color. I am passionate about working with individuals that are looking to work through unresolved family of origin issues, trauma, anxiety, depression, and shame. I work out of my offices in Manhattan (herald square) and Teaneck, New Jersey. I seek to facilitate a client-centered approach, with unconditional positive regard, to all of my clients, striving to meet them where they are and helping them to regain a relationship with themselves through body, mind, and spirit. I consider my style of practice a peaceful balance of directive and non-directive approaches pending what my clients feels is the best fit. I also try to make my practice eclectic, using my understanding and training of several different approaches to explore how and what rebuilding might look like for you. It’s important to me that we create what you need together instead of dictating what I think you need. I also believe it's important to explore macro-systemic issues that affect client's life--possibly consciously and unconsciously. In a supportive environment, we collaboratively explore the realities of the past and its presence in here-and-now situations with individuals (and sometimes broadening the work to couples where fit) to develop a greater understanding of how inner wounding of the past or unresolved family of origin issues and family dynamics may be influencing struggles of the present in all relationships, including relationship with Self. As above, so below. I believe that our environment at times deeply mirrors our inner world, so I also view the work through this lens. In our therapeutic journey together, we can cultivate insight and connection to true Self, as well as, center our work on mending or creating fulfilling relationships through understanding our own attachment styles/issues.
